Widespread across America, particularly in the west, the Quail is a striking, unusually beautiful game bird, with a forward curling black plume that sits on top of a gorgeously patterned black and white head. It has a sweetly curved black beak, a pair of white “eyebrows” and sturdy black legs that hold up its rotund, almost perfectly round body. It’s also famous for its unusual call of “chi-ca-go!”.
